Natallia Karkanitsa is an Analyst covering the Business Location topic and leading contributor engagement for centralized economies in B-READY. She joined the team in May 2023 as an Analyst on Business Insolvency after completing an internship in the World Bank Group’s Legal Vice Presidency. Natallia has held senior roles at the UN Secretariat, UNDP, UNODC, civil society, and academia. As Head of Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus, she drafted the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2021–2025 and coordinated data management, monitoring, and reporting. At UNDP, she led the portfolio of programs on governance, rule of law, access to justice, and impact investment. She also served as a Senior Lecturer at Belarusian State University, teaching International Law, Refugee Law, and Human Rights. Natallia holds an LL.M. from American University Washington College of Law, a master’s degree in Law, Economics, and Management from the University of Bordeaux, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Law from Belarusian State University. A Hubert H. Humphrey Fulbright Fellow, she worked at the American Bar Association, the Law Library of Congress, and a Washington, DC–based law firm specializing in white-collar crime and anticorruption. She is admitted to the New York State Bar and is fluent in Belarusian, Russian, and French.
