Black History Month Series

The World Bank

Black History Month encourages the celebration of Black achievement and the exploration of the Black experience in both the present and past at the World Bank Group (WBG). The WBG Archives has used the occasion to learn more about the contributions of its early African American staff. Linked below are four profiles of former Bank Group staff who each helped further the Bank’s mission to eradicate poverty and promote shared prosperity.

The author of these profiles, Bertha F. Wilson, is a Washington DC native and has worked as an archivist in the WBG Archives for more than 20 years. Evident in each of these profiles is Mrs. Wilson’s curiosity about those individuals who laid the foundation for our institution as well as the sense of pride and belonging she experienced while learning about these individuals.
