The BATTC Phase 2 project aims to improve trade and transport connections along key routes in Bhutan by building roads, bridges, and planning for broader transport networks, while ensuring infrastructure is designed to withstand climate risks such as flooding and landslides. Building on this, QII is supporting a wider reform of how Bhutan's government purchases and contracts for public infrastructure — shifting the focus away from simply choosing the cheapest option toward smarter, longer-term decision-making that considers quality, durability, and sustainability throughout an asset's entire lifespan.
Reducing emissions by supporting local Low Embodied Carbon supply chains

This work aims to develop a methodology that helps infrastructure projects reduce their carbon footprint by prioritizing locally produced, lower-carbon materials and suppliers, supporting local industries and job creation in the process. The QII team will lead this effort by studying supply chains in West Africa, using those insights to build a reusable framework applicable across sectors like water, transport, and buildings, and contributing findings to a broader initiative across multiple development banks to mainstream sustainable procurement in bank-financed projects worldwide.

The Progestão Program is a World Bank-supported initiative that helps Brazilian state governments improve how they plan and spend public money, with a focus on long-term fiscal sustainability across five participating states.
