Development partners have expressed strong interest in co-financing the Kambarata-1 HPP. This reflects both the project’s scale and its potential to benefit the Kyrgyz Republic and other countries of Central Asia.
At the request of the Kyrgyz government, the World Bank is leading the project’s Donor Coordination Committee, which was established in June 2024. The committee comprises major international financial institutions and other development partners and provides a multilateral platform for comprehensive support to Kambarata-1 HPP. It allows joint oversight of project preparation and implementation within a sustainable macroeconomic, commercial, environmental, and social framework. Together with the World Bank, these institutions are exploring the mobilization of concessional lending for the project, while helping ensure that it meets international standards.
