SURGE Umbrella Program

Results

Since 2020, SURGE has supported local and national governments in 409 cities and 37 countries around the world to proactively plan and manage urban growth and development. This has been achieved through the:

  • Reinforcement of financial and institutional instruments and capacities
  • Improvement of spatial planning systems
  • Provision of city-level data and analytics to guide urban policy and investment planning
  • Advancement of government capabilities resilient to climate change and disasters
  • Promotion of sustainable, climate smart, and low carbon urban development.

SURGE Map Updated

SURGE tracks progress towards achieving its development objective by monitoring a set of 42 results indicators, aggregating results under overarching program indicators, while also monitoring results for each of its five thematic pillars.
