Overall Context
Launched in 2024 by the World Bank and SECO, the Accelerating Green and Resilient Growth in Large Cities in Viet Nam Program supports Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Can Tho in designing and implementing green and resilient growth strategies to enhance quality of life and strengthen economic competitiveness. Component 1 focuses on climate change mitigation by fostering investments in low carbon infrastructure, while Component 2 advances climate change adaptation by improving flood management and building urban resilience. Through targeted technical assistance, policy advice, and capacity development, the Program contributes to the World Bank’s ongoing engagement with Viet Nam’s largest cities by strengthening the enabling environment, supporting risk-informed investment planning, and mobilizing additional capital investments to meet pressing environmental and infrastructure needs.
