The LSMS-led Center for Development Data is a Rome-based hub that facilitates the production of high-quality, timely, relevant survey data for evidence-based policymaking and investment decisions to achieve poverty reduction, food security, and sustainable development.

Based in Rome, Projected to the World

The Center’s strategic location in the Mediterranean facilitates its work with countries in Africa and the Middle East leveraging partnerships with Italian and European institutions, and with the Rome-based Agencies of the United Nations.

The World Bank

The Center for Development Data organizes training courses, thematic workshops on specialized topics, as well as short courses and seminars held at regional statistical training facilities to maximize outreach and impact. 

The Center’s research and capacity development work programs are closely linked to operational activities in client countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle-East and North Africa regions and beyond. 

The Center for Development Data Training Initiative organizes training courses, thematic workshops on specialized topics, as well as short courses and seminars. It relies on technical contributions from its Italian partners (the Bank of Italy, the Institute of Statistics – ISTAT, and the Italian Institute of Health – ISS) as well as from leading global experts, academia and the global statistical community at large.

A Global Partnership

The Center partners academic institutions and research organizations worldwide, to deliver technical assistance and training in a coordinated and effective fashion. These partnerships have expanded overtime, and have enabled the Center to become a global platform for methodological innovation, survey integration, and capacity development.
