Infrastructure Governance Round Table - Getting Infrastructure Right: A Call To Action

image

"Learn how the quality of public investment governance is significantly linked to positive growth outcomes."

Strategic infrastructure delivery that is on time, within budget, and provided in a manner commanding the confidence of all stakeholders, including markets and civil society, is essential to tackling the widening infrastructure gap. Poor public-sector capacity and the failure to efficiently allocate risk are key reasons why projects fail to attract external financing and meet delivery objectives. There is broad consensus that the answer to this urgent challenge lies in strengthening the entire governance architecture for infrastructure projects.

Ensuring equitable results for all stakeholders requires clear links between quality and growth outcomes through end-to-end governance of public investment streams. Within this strategy, private sector participation and the adaptation of innovative technological tools for management are a key part of the solution. This Bite+ will address how to deliver bankable projects through:

• Long-term strategies linking project selection, equity, affordability, resilience and quality of outcomes.

• Regulatory design that targets equitable growth while managing projects efficiently.

• Technological innovations that enable balanced economic, financial, sectoral and strategic priorities.

• The Maximizing Finance for Development (MFD) agenda, which is key to leveraging a broad range of finance and expertise for sustainable growth.
