El 4 de agosto de 2016, el Directorio Ejecutivo del Banco Mundial aprobó el Marco Ambiental y Social (MAS) para ayudar a proteger a las personas y el medio ambiente en los proyectos para inversión que financia. El MAS está conformado por la visión de desarrollo sostenible del Banco Mundial, la política ambiental y social del Banco Mundial para el financiamiento de proyectos para inversión, y los 10 Estándares Ambientales y Sociales. En ellos se exponen los requisitos que el Banco Mundial y los Prestatarios deben cumplir para abordar los riesgos e impactos ambientales y sociales en los proyectos de inversión. Son ejemplos de estos requisitos la realización de evaluaciones del impacto ambiental y social, la consulta con las comunidades afectadas acerca de los posibles impactos del proyecto, y el restablecimiento de los medios de subsistencia de las personas desplazadas. Este curso en línea impartido en la modalidad autodirigida presentará a los participantes el contenido del MAS. Se recomienda enfáticamente que los participantes lean con atención el MAS junto con el curso para comprender más profundamente este marco.
