Isolation within a hospital prevents the spread of infectious diseases, including communicable, respiratory illnesses like COVID-19 and influenza. This course provides tools to implement an isolation program, including infrastructure, processes, options for set-up, performance measurement, and outbreak response.

Course Overview

This training course is based on internationally recognized hospital quality requirements, including best industry practices and includes the following topics:

Importance of implementing an isolation program

  • Step 1: Establish infrastructure for isolation
  • Step 2: Establish isolation processes
    • Option 1: Establish an independent area
    • Option 2: Establish an area within the facility
    • Option 3: Establish an outpatient facility
  • Step 3: Measure compliance
    • Be ready to act immediately during an outbreak

Objective

Be able to establish the infrastructure and processes for isolation, measure compliance, and respond quickly to an outbreak.

Target Audience

Anyone involved in a health care facility, especially those with the responsibility of setting and implementing policy and infrastructure.
