Change Coverage Option During Open Enrollment Period for Medical Insurance Plan

Summary

Every fall, the World Bank Group holds an open enrollment period to allow staff to make changes to his/her Medical Insurance Plan (MIP) coverage option. During this period, staff may enroll themselves and/or eligible family members to the MIP, even if an earlier enrollment was waived.

All changes apply for the following calendar year and are in effect from the 1st of January.

To inquire about availability of doctors, dentists, and facilities, contact the insurance administrator from:

  • Aetna—Medical Benefits—for staff in or outside the U.S.
  • Cigna Dental U.S.—Dental Benefits—for staff in or outside the U.S.
  • CVS/caremark—Pharmacy Benefits—for use by MIP participants inside the U.S.
  • EyeMed—Vision Benefits—for staff in or outside the U.S.
  • Cigna International—Medical and Dental Benefits—only for staff living outside U.S.

Send an email for open enrollment, with a link to myHR Self-Service where staff can request the required changes.

Make decisions on specific changes if currently enrolled in the MIP.

Note:

  • Use the above resources to help you make a choice. Register changes to your plan and enroll additional eligible family members via myHR Self-Service.
  • You may continue to make updates to your MIP coverage until the end date of the open enrollment period (communicated in the kiosk announcement or email).

Send an email confirming the changes to the staff member within 24 hours. The email includes a:
  • link to the form to enroll eligible family members in the MIP for the first time.
  • list of supporting documents that needs to be submitted.

Complete the form which you can access through the link provided in the confirmation email, if you are enrolling eligible family members in the MIP for the first time.

07Send the form and the required supporting documents to HR Operations.

08Review the request.

If approved, complete these steps:

  • Enroll the eligible family members in MIP.
  • Send a confirmation email to the staff member on enrollment.

If rejected, send the staff member an email letting him/her know the reason for the request being rejected.
