Washington-based staff—regular, open, term, executive director (ED), ED alternates, ED advisors, and ED senior advisor appointments—may purchase Optional Dependent Group Life Insurance to cover a spouse/registered domestic partner (DP) and eligible dependent children (children over 14 days old and under age 25). Members pay 100 percent of the premium for this additional insurance. Two coverage levels are available:
|Coverage Level||Coverage for Spouse/DP||Coverage for each Eligible Child|
Premium (per paycheck) Regardless of Number/Type of Covered Dependents
Enrollment in Optional Dependent Group Life Insurance must be elected by the staff member. Such election may be made without the provision of evidence of good health only if the election is made within 60 days of the:
entry on duty (if the staff member joins with a dependent spouse/DP and/or dependent children).
acquisition of a new dependent (marriage / establishment of domestic partnership / if no dependent children, or birth/adoption of first child if not married and without a DP).
If you wish to establish or increase your Optional Dependent Group Life Insurance coverage in any other circumstance, you must go through Late Enrollment and provide the insurer with satisfactory evidence of good health. The World Bank Group cannot and will not intervene on late enrollment decisions.
You may reduce or cancel your Optional Dependent Group Life coverage at any time via staff's myHR Self-Service.
In case of conflict between this guidance and the applicable staff rule, the staff rule prevails.
