Belgium is a founding member of the World Bank Group and actively supports international efforts to fight poverty and promote human and sustainable economic development worldwide.
Today, Belgium is a member of all five institutions that make up the World Bank Group. As an important shareholder and partner, it is part of the ED10 constituency group, which holds 4.67% of the voting power in IBRD. Belgium is represented by an Executive Director who is appointed by the government.
Belgium’s World Bank office covers operational, knowledge, and corporate programs, working in partnership with Belgium and European Unioninstitutions and clients.
