About the Program
Leverage the expertise of emerging economies that have made significant development progress, to support other countries in replicating and building on successful experiences, by not only sharing knowledge and best practices on key development challenges, but also recognizing and learning how different approaches might need to be adapted for successful outcomes in different countries. Build understanding, partnership and appreciation for the development work and impact delivered by the WBG in client countries.
The WB Fellowship Program is designed for technocrats, from countries with strong track record in a technical field (e.g. digital development, disaster risk management, water management, addressing deforestation, urban development, etc.), to share knowledge and experience with a country addressing similar transformation challenges and learn from different approaches.
Program Features
The program offers a one-year assignment based in WBG Country Offices. Recruitment is conducted on a rolling basis, aligned with project needs and government nominations. Fellows remain on the payroll of their home government, with additional benefits such as housing, travel, and per diem supported by the WBG.
Eligibility
Candidate must be a top-performing technocrat with a strong career track record and future potential, bringing deep expertise and demonstrated excellence in technical fields such as digital development, water management, disaster risk management, energy, transport, deforestation, geothermal and solar energy, urban development, or healthcare. They must possess strategic thinking and excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and collaborate with diverse teams. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to produce clear, persuasive documentation and present complex ideas succinctly.
