The World Bank Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC) will host a session at Asia Smart City Conference 2025 (ASCC), themed “Urban Circularity.” The session will spotlight scalable solutions for urban waste management—a critical challenge for Asia’s rapidly growing cities.

Building on TDLC’s long-standing work in facilitating knowledge exchange on urban sustainability, the discussion will center on strategies to reduce household waste, a major focus of the forthcoming World Bank flagship report, What a Waste 3.0, focusing on regional perspective on Asia region. City leaders and World Bank client representatives from Pakistan, the Philippines, and Uzbekistan will share case studies and innovations to advance urban circularity.

The session will bring together policymakers, technical experts, and practitioners to exchange lessons and explore pathways toward integrated, inclusive, and climate-smart waste management systems in Asia.
