The Global Office showcased PPP concepts and applications of ICP data at the first annual World Bank Data Day. Staff at the ICP booth chatted to many of the 1000-plus visitors about how PPPs can improve cross country socio-economic analyses, handed out explanatory material, and featured on the World Bank’s Facebook Live channel.

An ICP side event showcased the program at UN-ESCWA’s 13th Statistical Committee meeting. Posters and charts illustrated the use of PPPs and ICP data, and displayed preliminary 2016 results.  The Western Asia ICP team were on hand to answer questions and point visitors towards a video of country testimonials on the importance of ICP and benefits of participation in the ICP at the national level.

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the ICP, the World Bank Group hosted an event on May 23, 2018 at its Headquarters in Washington DC. World Bank Group Chief Executive Officer Kristalina Georgieva delivered opening remarks to a fireside chat with 2015 Nobel Laureate in economics Sir Angus Deaton and Georgetown University Provost Robert M. Groves on the challenges and opportunities for investing in evidence for sustainable development.  Lawrence H.
