PRESS RELEASE

Workshop on e-Transformation for Competitiveness and Growth

June 30, 2010

Minsk, June 30. The World Bank Group, in collaboration with the Government of Belarus and the Governments of Singapore and Korea, organized a one-day workshop in Minsk on “e- Transformation for Competitiveness and Growth.” The workshop became a platform for knowledge sharing and interactive dialogue on the transformational impact of ICTs on public administration, investment climate, government to business services and telecommunications reform in Belarus, featuring best practices from international experiences.

The workshop discussed the status quo and achievements of Belarus in e-transformation, and identified short and long-term recommendations based on international best practices. Singapore and Korea’s success stories in e-transformation have emerged largely as a result of thorough planning and careful implementation.  This success is evident in Korea and Singapore’s top placement in e-Government and  ease of “Doing Business” ratings.
