Launch of African Mining Legislation Atlas (AMLA) Toolkits banner

The African Mining Legislation Atlas (AMLA) supports countries in maximizing mineral resource benefits by offering regulatory options and a capacity building program for African legal professionals. As part of it`s main activities, AMLA produced a guiding template that outlines a menu of legislative solutions to assist countries in the preparation or revision of their mining laws.

AMLA has developed two new toolkits to enable practical implementation of the guiding template’s provisions:

  1. Toolkit for state equity participation in mining companies
  2. Toolkit on local development and community engagement in mining projects.

These toolkits can be used as a resource for government officials and mining practitioners to inform policy, in legislation and contractual practices, and to assist mining companies in understanding the African landscape and mineral frameworks.

AMLA will launch the toolkits at a panel discussion during the Mining Indaba conference. The discussion will focus on experiences in and evolving approaches to state equity participation.
