Global Payments Week 2010

The World Bank held Global Payments Week 2010, a biannual event gathering of central banks and securities commissions from all over the world on October 19-22, 2010, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Over 130 participants attended the Global Payments Week 2010, representing 73 countries.

The World Bank held the biannual event gathering of central banks and securities commissions from all over the world on October 19-22, 2010, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 

Over 130 participants attended the Global Payments Week 2010, representing 73 countries.

The 19th and the morning of the 20th were entirely dedicated to the parallel meetings of the each regional initiative (Arab Payments Initiative, South Asia Payments Initiative, Western Hemisphere Forum, Commonwealth of Independent States Payments Initiative, Coordination of African Sub-regional Payment System Committees).

Starting from the afternoon of the 20th, all the initiatives gathered in the plenary session to discuss the following topics:

  • Updates from International Financial Institutions
  • Defining guidelines for regional and sub-regional payment systems integration
  • European market infrastructure integration
  • Revision of CPSS-IOSCO standards for payment and settlement systems
  • Reforming Payment Systems: lessons learned from recent reforms
  • Enhancing efficiency in remittances market
  • Filling the gap in the use of electronic payment services in emerging markets
  • Challenges in the Oversight of new payment service providers and innovative payment instruments
