The World Bank’s Gas Flaring and Methane Reduction (GFMR) Partnership is seeking to hire a contractor-consultant to conduct a comprehensive methane leak detection campaign and venting diagnostics across three oil and gas assets in Brazil. This initiative is designed to support Brazil’s oil and gas regulator (ANP) as the country prepares to implement new methane regulations and faces increasing scrutiny to align with international climate standards. The contractor will deploy advanced detection technologies; compare reported and measured emissions; and recommend targeted abatement measures.A key element of the project is capacity building for ANP staff; who will participate in all phases of the campaign. The contractor will provide hands-on training; deliver detailed site reports; and conduct a skills assessment; ensuring that ANP develops the expertise needed for ongoing methane management and regulatory enforcement.Scheduled to begin in early 2026 and last 8–10 weeks; this project aims to deliver a more accurate national methane inventory; strengthen Brazil’s regulatory oversight; and position the country’s oil and gas sector to meet evolving global climate expectations.
