WASHINGTON, May 25, 2016 – The World Bank Group issued the following statement today in response to some Iranian news reports:
The World Bank has no plans to grant financial assistance to Iran, nor does it foresee a specific engagement leading to financial assistance over the short or medium term. Our dialogue with Iran is limited to data gathering and broad analysis of the Iranian economy in the wake of the incremental lifting of the sanctions.
