The 2014 Nile Basin Development Forum

The 2014 Nile Basin Development Forum – Challenges, Lessons, and Prospects in Building Sustainable Transboundary Cooperation in a Complex River Basin

October 6-7, 2014

InterContinental Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya

The Nile Basin, home to 238 million people across 11 countries, is faced with increasing development pressures vs. natural resource constraints amidst uncertainties introduced by climate change. These challenges and threats are by very nature transboundary and call for collective action from riparian countries and a wide range of stakeholders across multiple-sectors at national, regional, and international levels. With differing, and occasionally conflicting, interests, how can countries boost cooperation to better manage the shared waters of the Nile River for stronger economic growth, more energy, and greater resilience against a changing climate?
