The GFLJD Working Group (WG) on Law, Development, and Social Responsibility was designed to address the challenges posed by the Sustainable Development Goal - SDG 16, particularly to strengthen the rule of law (16.3) in the World Bank's member countries and the development of effective, accountable, and transparent institutions at all levels (16.6), either public or private.
The Working Group was a multi-stakeholder forum and network that drew on the ISJPS/CNRS (Institut des sciences juridique et philosophique de la Sorbonne/Institut des sciences humaines et sociales) and Paris Sorbonne University research expertise and multi-stakeholder network on corporate social responsibility. It gathered partners from academia, civil society, public, and private sectors to discuss the challenges for effectively implementing legal and policy mechanisms for Social Responsibility Organization as a whole (i.e., market, government, intergovernmental, and non-governmental institutions), and their contribution for sustainable development. To achieve this aim, the WG organized roundtables to build technical capacity and strengthen the understanding of Social Responsibility Organization practices from local, regional, and global perspectives.
