Think Tanks

The World Bank Group (WBG) is expanding its collaboration with think tanks worldwide to foster inclusive and impactful dialogue on global development. We engage with think tanks because of their diverse expertise; content rich analysis; practical experience in assessing development solutions and their impact; to facilitate knowledge exchange, and to amplify new ideas for development.

Our new strategy reaches beyond traditional partners, inviting a broader spectrum of think tanks to offer their insights. This approach is reinforced by our new knowledge Academy and the WBG Institute for Economic Development. One of our key priorities is to strengthen and deepen relationships and operational partnerships with institutions in the Global South, such as the Africa Centers of Excellence and the Africa Think Tank Platform; and Knowledge Hubs in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.

  • We want our engagement to reflect diverse perspectives to enrich policy discussions, and advance solutions to urgent development challenges.
  • We are committed to building a vibrant network that supports economic growth, job creation, human capital, climate resilience, and good governance.
  • Through open communication and shared learning, we seek to create a positive environment where think tanks can help shape and inform our shared priorities.

HOW TO
ENGAGE WITH US
heading-bottom-large

We invite think tanks to partner with us and help shape the future of development by:

  • Joining high-level policy dialogues, participating in think tank roundtables, and attending flagship events during our Spring and Annual meetings as well as events like our Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics (ABCDE).
  • Collaborating on research and open-data initiatives, building local partnerships to generate knowledge that informs policy, and facilitating the flow of ideas between local institutions through the WBG Institute for Economic Development,  and the WBG knowledge Academy.

By working with us, you access a well-established global network, contribute to policy innovation, and benefit from knowledge exchange and peer learning.
