Estonia
BY THE NUMBERS: ESTONIA
OVERVIEW: ESTONIA
Estonia is a committed member and partner of the World Bank Group. It is represented at the Board by an Executive Director shared with the other Nordic and Baltic countries.
Estonia joined the World Bank Group in 1992, shortly after regaining independence, and received its first loan the following year. In less than two decades, Estonia became both a member and donor to IDA, the World Bank’s fund for the poorest countries. Today, it actively engages across all five institutions of the World Bank Group to support global efforts to eradicate poverty on a livable planet.
The World Bank’s Nordic Baltic Desk, based in the Paris Office, promotes collaboration between Estonia and the World Bank Group. It works with Estonian partners to organize conferences, seminars, and outreach activities, and serves as a key entry point for stakeholders seeking to engage with the World Bank Group or access its knowledge and resources.
Estonia’s commitment to international development is reflected in its active engagement with the World Bank Group’s mission to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity on a livable planet.
