The Fiscal Sustainability and Resilience Development Policy Financing is the first of three operations to support the country’s efforts to strengthen fiscal sustainability and enhance resilience to natural disasters and climate change.
In health, the Growing Up Healthy Together Project promotes early childhood development and maternal health, while the Improving Health Care Project reinforces the national health system with a focus on primary care. In education, the Growing Up and Learning Together Project aims to improve teaching practices and renovate early childhood education facilities. In transport, the Transport and Resilient Infrastructure Project looks to enhance connectivity through improvements to a key logistics hub in metropolitan San Salvador, APOPA.
Efforts to promote inclusive growth include the Local Economic Resilience Project, which strengthens local government capacity to improve municipal services. The Water Sector Resilience Project will advance the quality and reliability of drinking water. The Promoting Job Opportunities and Skills Development Project expands access to employment and training for youth and vulnerable adults. In energy, the Geothermal Energy for Sustainable and Inclusive Development Project supports renewable power generation and direct geothermal use.
The World Bank also oversees smaller grants supporting integrated landscape management, sustainable land use through farming community networks, and faster project preparation. Trust funds and advisory services complement efforts in trade, education, social protection, energy, and disaster risk management.
