In Fiscal Year (FY) 2025, the Partnership made significant contributions to water security and sanitation initiatives, with a focus on Water for People, Water for Food and Water for the Planet. GWSP's efforts are integral to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and mobilizing private investment for sustainable water management.
Key Fiscal Year 2025 Achievements:
In FY25, GWSP influenced $47.9 billion in active World Bank lending across 90 countries, 27 of which were in fragile or conflict-affected settings. This included $12.46 billion in new lending across 13 countries, 11 of them fragile or conflict-affected, underscoring the World Bank Group’s global reach in tackling complex water challenges.
GWSP directly contributed to improved water access for 19.06 million people, sanitation for 12.09 million, and risk mitigation for 7.16 million individuals.
81% of new World Bank water lending had climate co-benefits, and 100% included climate indicators, reflecting GWSP’s strong climate integration.
51 countries received support to build institutional capacity, and 45 countries were assisted in developing policies for sustainable water management.
70% of new IDA-financed water operations included actions to create skilled jobs for women, and 77.3% of active water projects met gender-related indicators, up from 73% in FY24.
