In 2022, the LSMS team has continued collecting and analyzing high frequency phone survey data in Africa to track the impacts of the shocks, and publishing research on some of the most pressing topics such as climate change induced migration, employment conditions during the pandemic, tackling gender data gaps, while uncovering the uneven effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on national statistical offices, and more.
Looking towards the future, in a new paper developed under the Inter-Secretariat Working Group on Household Surveys, we identified eight technical priorities that would help the NSOs position household surveys for the next decade.
Here is a selective collection of LSMS resources that we produced in 2022. We picked one resource per month for you:
January - Survey on the Implementation of the Cape Town Global Action Plan for Sustainable Development Data
February - Three ways to tackle gender data gaps – and 12 countries embracing the challenge
March - Measuring Disaster Crop Production Losses Using Survey Microdata : Evidence from Sub-Saharan Africa
April - Better energy access starts with better data
May - Loss(t) in translation? Measuring disaster crop losses in surveys
July - Leveraging household surveys to boost research on climate migration
October - Price and weather shocks: results from the eighth round of the High-Frequency Phone Survey
