BRIEF

Human Rights and Sustainable Development Working Group

Objectives

The Working Group on ‘Human Rights and Sustainable Development’ (Working Group) explores the legal, policy and operational links between human rights and sustainable development, focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 16. It will also be looking into issues through a COVID-19 lens.

The Working Group will carry out several activities, including launching a knowledge platform, organizing a series of webinars, and contributing to reports and knowledge products on the integration of human rights perspectives into development work. These activities will be implemented in light of the Working Group’s three principal objectives:

  • Deepening the understanding of the normative and operational links between the international human rights framework and the SDGs;
  • Researching methodological advances in human rights measurement, including human rights indicators and human rights due diligence; and
  • Analyzing donor and partner country approaches to integrating human rights in development cooperation.
