The Challenge

Comoros has been striving to create a sustainable foundation for private sector-led growth.

Mission

The Comoros Integrated Development and Competitiveness Project (PIDC) has been a groundbreaking initiative providing the foundations for sustained and inclusive private sector-led growth and jobs. It acted as a catalyst for private sector-led growth and investment through a two-pronged approach: (1) value chain interventions and (2) firm-level support. C-JET grant has significantly provided  technical assistance to young entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), by enhancing the business development services (BDS) ecosystem in the country. The project was successful in achieving its development targets. In terms of strengthening the business environment, 186 MSMEs and cooperatives were supported through the business plan competition, with 43% women, and 100 young entrepreneurs receiving financial and technical assistance. Comorian authorities and stakeholders are keen to pursue the reform agenda related to private sector-led growth and value chain development, building on the impact achieved by the PIDC.
