The World Bank is committed to strengthening Kenya’s health sector by enhancing the quality and accessibility of primary health care, building institutional capacity, and supporting the government’s universal health coverage (UHC) reforms through initiatives such as the Building Resilient and Responsive Health Systems Project. Through the COVID-19 Health Emergency and Response Project, the World Bank helped Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital renovate its isolation and high dependency units, install an oxygen tank and piping, and provide essential medical and laboratory equipment and furniture. Additionally, the World Bank offers technical assistance, conducts data analysis on health expenditure and service delivery, and supports programs targeting vulnerable populations, including refugees and low-income groups.
