00:07 Over the last years,
00:08 the world has seen record highs in global food insecurity
00:12 due to the impacts of conflict,
00:14 weather extremes,
00:15 COVID-19,
00:16 and more recently the war in Ukraine.
00:18 We know from the global report on food crisis that in 2022,
00:21 258 million people required urgent humanitarian assistance in
00:26 order to meet their basic food needs.
00:29 This is the highest recorded number in the seven-year history of the report
00:33 and the outlook is grim.
00:36 In order to address this worsening crisis,
00:39 in May of 2022,
00:40 the Global Alliance for Food Security,
00:42 or GAFFS was established.
00:44 GAAFFS is jointly convened by the World Bank Group and the 2022 G7 German
00:49 presidency with support and active engagement from
00:53 over 60 humanitarian and development partners,
00:56 regional organizations,
00:57 civil society,
00:58 and governments.
01:00 So the objective of GAFFS is to catalyze an agile
01:03 and coordinated response to the global food and nutrition security crisis
01:07 and to enhance countries' preparedness and resilience to future crises.
01:13 To help forward this objective,
01:14 Gaffes in November of 2022 launched the
01:17 Global Food and nutrition Security dashboard.
01:19 The dashboard is a global public information sharing platform
01:24 that brings together the latest global and country-level.
01:28 Information on food crisis severity,
01:30 global food security financing,
01:31 as well as innovation and research.
01:33 This built upon a multi-stakeholder consultative
01:36 process highlights the key insights from
01:39 data partners in the UN system as well as other organizations.
