Increased population and urbanization in the Palestinian territories have led to increased waste generation, with a per capita solid waste generation higher than the worldwide average. Most of the landfills are already forced to function over-capacity and the situation will worsen if the current trend continues without any efforts to recycle and treat waste before disposal. The video presents a successful World Bank-Donor intervention in Gaza benefiting about one million citizens and recommends a more comprehensive approach to waste management across the whole solid waste service chain.
