00:01 Mobility is a key part of our lives.
00:06 Every day we rely on transport to access jobs,
00:10 education,
00:11 healthcare,
00:12 and all the other opportunities we need to achieve our full potential.
00:17 But transport is also a major contributor to climate change.
00:22 And already accounts for 20% of the greenhouse gas emissions
00:26 that are heating the planet.
00:28 If we don't act quickly,
00:30 that figure will grow much higher.
00:33 So how do we keep the world moving
00:35 while reducing the climate footprint of transport?
00:39 That is precisely the question
00:41 that the Transport Decarbonisation Investment Series is looking to answer.
00:46 Produced jointly by the World Bank,
00:49 the Netherlands,
00:50 and the World Resources Institute.
00:53 The new series provides concrete recommendations
00:56 for boosting investment in greener transport technologies,
01:00 such as
01:01 electric vehicles powered by clean electricity
01:05 and supported by reliable charging infrastructure,
01:09 high capacity,
01:10 high quality public transport.
01:13 Better walking and cycling infrastructure.
01:17 Efficient railways and waterways.
01:20 To make all this happen,
01:21 we must work with countries to rethink
01:23 policies across the entire transport sector.
01:27 This means
01:28 making sure countries set specific targets for
01:31 transport as part of their climate commitments,
01:34 adapting regulations and incentives,
01:37 prioritizing transport projects with the lowest carbon footprint.
01:42 Managing transport demand more effectively
01:45 to shift from cars and trucks to cleaner modes,
01:48 and adopting stricter environmental and safety standards
01:52 for vehicle fleets around the world.
01:54 By changing the way we move,
01:56 we can lower global emissions
01:59 and create a better future for people
02:02 and the planet.
02:05 So join us
02:06 to act and invest towards better transport.
