During the 2014 Annual Meetings, the World Bank has launched a massive private sector partnership to raise billions of dollars in private money to build infrastructure in developing economies and also announced a 50 million dollar pledge to fight cholera in Haiti. Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim said waterborne diseases are a leading cause of death for Haitian children.
