Policy Messages from the 2012 Development Forum in Dushanbe

Tajikistan Development Forum has convened together key development partners and institutions in the country to mark the launch of the new midterm strategy of the Government.

DCC brings together 26 organizations to improve coordination and dialogue between development partners and the Government.

DCC members emphasized the need to sharpen the focus on improving living standards of the population by 2015.

Improving the quality of and access to education is one of the critical elements of human development in the country.

Reducing maternal mortality and addressing gender related issues is required to narrow the gap towards achieving the MDGs.

Provision of safe drinking is central to improving the lives of the Tajik people.

Lifting the low rates of private investment is critical to create jobs, increase incomes of vulnerable and middle class groups, and raise revenues for the budget.

The concept of food security needs to be broad and focused on higher incomes for small farmers and access to nutritious food by children.
