SANTO DOMINGO, June 22, 2026 — Carolina Rendón will assume the role of World Bank Group Representative in the Dominican Republic effective July 1, a position that will unify the institution’s leadership in the country, supporting priorities across both the public and private sectors.
Rendón, who currently leads the World Bank Group’s operations with the public sector in the Dominican Republic, will take on unified representation of the institution’s main entities: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).

“The World Bank Group has a long-standing relationship with the Dominican Republic, supporting the country’s development priorities. That spirit of collaboration will continue to guide our work as we contribute to tangible results that improve people’s lives,” Rendón said.
As part of a global directive driven by the World Bank Group’s senior management to strengthen its impact and effectiveness at the country level, the unified representation model has been consolidated globally in recent months as a key step toward a more integrated institution.
The World Bank Group’s Country Partnership Framework with the Dominican Republic will remain the instrument that sets the agenda for engagement between the institution and the country, aligned with national long-term development aspirations, growth objectives, job creation, and efforts to strengthen competitiveness and productive transformation.
Rendón brings more than 20 years of experience at the World Bank Group, where she has worked across multiple regions, including Latin America, Europe and Central Asia, and Africa. Her experience covers public sector management, justice reform, governance, and digital transformation. Between 2010 and 2012, she was part of the World Bank team supporting the Participatory Anti-Corruption Initiative (IPAC) in the Dominican Republic, and in July 2025 she was appointed World Bank Representative in the country. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked as a lawyer at Shell and served as an advisor to the Prime Minister of Peru.
A Peruvian national, Rendón holds a law degree with a Bachelor’s in Humanities and Liberal Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, as well as a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
