Philippines: World Bank Invites President Aquino To Speak At The World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings

Manila, September 15, 2011—World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick has formally invited Philippines President Benigno S. Aquino III to deliver a speech at the World Bank during the week of 2011 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

President Aquino will share the Philippines’ experience of People Power and his platform of good governance and poverty reduction. The speech is expected to resonate well among the delegates to the World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings.

President Aquino’s speech will be among the key events leading up to Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the IMF slated on September 23-25, 2011.

The Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund bring together each year central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.
