World Bank Launches Euro-Swedish Kronor Issue

The World Bank announced the launching today of a SKr 500 million (about US$ 79 million equivalent) public bond offering in the Euro-Swedish kronor market. The issue is a reopening of the Bank's 10.50 percent Euro-Swedish kronor issue of 1988, due November 15, 1993. Accordingly, the bonds have a 4-1/2-year maturity and an annual coupon of 10.50 percent and an offering price of 100.875, for a yield of 10 percent on a semi-annual equivalent basis.

The issue was underwritten by an international syndicate, consisting of members from Sweden and other countries and lead-managed by Svenska Handelsbanken/Svenska International PLC, with Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, PKbanken and SwedBank as co-lead managers.

The World Bank has agreed to swap the net proceeds of the issue into U.S. dollars.

The issue will be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. This is the World Bank's second Swedish kronor issue in the Euromarket.
