World Bank Announces Placement of $240 Million 2-Year Bond Issue

The World Bank announced the placement of a $240,000,000 issue of U.S. dollar bonds maturing March 15, 1975 in markets outside the United States. The bonds were purchased by central banks and other governmental institutions of 62 different countries and by one international organization. Such purchasers will now hold $810,860,000 of World Bank Two-year Bonds.

The new World Bank bonds, known as "Two Year Bonds of 1973, due March 15, 1975", bear interest at 6-3/4% per annum, payable semi-annually. The issue was sold at par.

The new bonds will be delivered March 15, 1973. A $200,000,000 bond issue placed outside the United States with similar purchasers in March 1971 will mature on March 15, 1973. The additional proceeds of $40,000,000 derived from the new bond issue will be used in the general operations of the Bank.
