World Bank $200 million 2-Year Bond Issue Placed

The World Bank announced today the placement of a $200,000,000 issue of U.S. dollar bonds maturing March 15, 1974 in markets outside the United States. The bonds were purchased by central bank and other governmental institutions of 62 different countries and by two international organizations. Such purchasers will now hold $745,860,000 of World Bank Two-Year Bonds.

The new World Bank bonds, known as the “Two Year Bonds of 1972, due March 15, 1974," bear interest at 5.30% per annum, payable semi-annually. The issue was sold at par.

The new bonds will be delivered today, March 15, 1972, and will replace a $174,500,000 bond issue placed outside the United States with similar purchasers in March 1970 that matures today. The additional proceeds of $25,500,000 derived from the new bond issue will be used in the general operations of the Bank.
