World Bank Places Issue of $175 Million of 7-7/8% 2-Year Bonds

The World Bank announced the placement of a $175,000,000 issue of U.S. dollar bonds maturing September 15, 1972 in markets outside the United States. The bonds were purchased by central banks and other governmental institutions of 57 different countries and by one international organization. The sale of these bonds will increase the amount of World Bank two-year dollar bonds held by these and other similar purchasers to $717,150,000.

The new World Bank bonds known as "Two Year Bonds of 1970, due September 15, 1972", bear interest at 7-7/8%, payable semi-annually. The issue was sold at par.

The new bonds will be delivered September 15, 1970. A $144,500,000 bond issue placed outside the United States with similar purchasers in September 1968 will mature on September 15, 1970. The new bond issue will therefore increase the total resources available to the Bank by $30,500,000.
