High Efficiency Irrigation gets further Boost in Pakistan

WASHINGTON, November 30, 2017 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following project:

Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Productivity Improvement Program Phase-I

IBRD Loan: US$130 million 

Terms: Maturity = 21 Years, Grace = 6 Years

Project ID: P157736

Project Description:  Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Productivity Improvement Program Phase-I will continue supporting farmers in Punjab province to use water more efficiently.  It will raise crop yields, encourage farmers to shift to high-value crops such as fruits and vegetables, and cut the amount of money paid by farmers on fertilizer, pesticides or other costs.
