China: Demonstration of Alternatives to Chlordane and Mirex

GEF GRANT: $14.36 million

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project will assist China to eliminate production and consumption of chlordane and mirex -- two POP (Persistent Organic Pollutants) pesticides controlled under the Stockholm Convention, and to promote integrated pest management in termite control. It will also assist China in complying with the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, which aims to eliminate 12 highly toxic and hazardous POPs worldwide.
