Lead exposure is one of the most urgent yet overlooked development challenges of our time. It affects millions of people worldwide — especially children — causing irreversible health damage and limiting the social and economic progress of communities. The burden of lead exposure is disproportionately borne by vulnerable populations, including pregnant women, infants, young children, and the poor, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where most affected adults and children live.
