The 15th Global Digital ID & Verifiable Credential Summit and Interoperability Testing Event will take place on August 20–21, 2026, at the Pullman King Power Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

The event is co-organized by the World Bank Group and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 17/WG 10 Task Force 7, in collaboration with Thailand’s Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA). It will bring together governments, standards organizations, technology providers, wallet developers, credential issuers, verifiers, relying parties, and international organizations from around the world.

Verifiable credentials are moving rapidly from standards development and pilots into real-world implementation. Governments and businesses are increasingly using digital wallets and verifiable credentials to enable people to prove their identity, qualifications, entitlements, and other attributes securely—online, offline, and across borders. International standards and interoperable trust frameworks will be essential if credentials issued by one organization or country are to be reliably accepted elsewhere.

The Summit will showcase practical developments from Thailand, the wider East Asia and Pacific region, South Asia, Europe, and North America. Sessions will explore government digital identity programs, mobile driving licenses, digital identity wallets, trust services, privacy, credential issuance, enterprise verification, and emerging use cases. Participants will hear directly from public authorities, international standards experts, technology providers, and organizations implementing digital identity and credential solutions at scale.

Running alongside the Summit, the Interoperability Testing Event will provide a practical environment for credential issuers, wallet providers, and verifiers to test whether independently developed solutions can work together using international standards. Participants will be able to observe live cross-border credential presentation and verification, review testing results, and engage directly with the technical teams.

The expected outcome is a stronger shared understanding of what is required to achieve practical interoperability, supported by live demonstrations, technical testing, and connections among organizations building and operating digital identity and verifiable credential ecosystems.
