GWP Tool Talks is a practical webinar series that helps Global Wildlife Program (GWP) project teams, World Bank staff, government clients, and partners put proven tools to work in real projects. Across the World Bank and partner institutions, many strong frameworks, guides, and toolkits already exist to support wildlife, biodiversity, and landscape work. However, these resources are not always easy to find, understand, or use in daily project work. Under its latest GEF-8 phase, the GWP knowledge platform aims to share existing knowledge and support the use and institutionalization of ready-to-use tools.

Tool Talks addresses this need by featuring one technical tool per session. Each session will offer a practical, tutorial-style walkthrough led by an experienced practitioner or tool developer. The focus will be on what the tool is, when and why to use it, and how it can be applied in operational settings. Sessions will be concise, practical, and grounded in real project experience.

Unlike other GWP knowledge events, which often bring together multiple speakers to share experiences, discuss emerging issues, or support strategic dialogue, Tool Talks will provide a focused deep dive on a single tool. Each session will be recorded and shared as an on-demand resource, helping build a library of practical tool walkthroughs on the GWP website.

Hosted by the GWP coordination team, each Tool Talk will be a one-hour event open to the wider World Bank and partner community. Participants should leave with a clear understanding of the tool, greater confidence in how to use it, and practical resources they can apply in their own projects.

Expected Outcomes

  • Improved awareness and understanding of existing tools among GWP and World Bank staff, supporting replication of what works and avoiding duplication of effort.
