With around USD 11 billion of international procurement each year, projects financed by the World Bank Group (WBG) offer numerous business opportunities for German companies—particularly in the energy sector, one of the most important sectors for German providers in WBG-funded projects.

Over the past year, the WBG has reformed its procurement system. Changes such as a stronger emphasis on quality criteria and the expansion of market dialogue prior to tenders improve the competitive conditions for companies offering technical excellence and sustainable solutions. This creates new opportunities for German providers.

This roundtable takes place on June 23, 2026 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm at Intersolar 2026 in Munich. It offers German companies the opportunity for direct exchange with the WBG sector representatives and procurement experts. During the event, the WBG experts will explain how companies can participate in tenders, what specific requirements apply, and what market opportunities are emerging in the sector. At the same time, the event provides space to discuss trends and innovations from the private sector with WBG experts.

The roundtable is organized by the https://wirtschaft-entwicklung.de/ (AWE), BSW - Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V., and the WBG’s Berlin Office. The event will be held in English.
