Natural capital — our forests, water systems, soils, and biodiversity — underpins economic prosperity and human well-being. Yet it remains largely invisible in the policy and financial decisions that shape our collective future. Bridging that gap is the central challenge this Forum is designed to address.

On June 9–10, 2026, the World Bank's Global Program on Sustainability, in partnership with the Government of Thailand, will convene policymakers, finance ministers, central bankers, investors, scientists, and innovators in Bangkok, Thailand for the 8th Global Policy Forum on Natural Capital. The event will showcase how robust data and evidence on natural capital can be integrated into investment decisions, policy frameworks, and financial systems — with concrete results from countries already leading the way.

Across two substantive days, participants will engage with the latest advances in natural capital accounting, explore how governments are embedding nature into national planning and fiscal policy, and examine how the finance sector can better align capital flows with nature-positive outcomes. Sessions will combine keynote addresses, country case studies, panel discussions, and technical deep dives on emerging tools including AI and Earth Observation technologies.

A dedicated peer-learning workshop for GPS Core Implementing Countries will follow on June 11, providing a focused space for experience-sharing and results exchange among program partners.
