Indonesia Economic Prospects

The Indonesia Economic Prospects (IEP) is a bi-annual World Bank flagship report that provides an impartial and up-to-date assessment of macroeconomic developments, policies, and outlook as well as thematic development challenges for the Indonesian economy. The IEP report aims to inform the public policy debate and is intended for a wide audience, including policy makers, business leaders, financial market participants, the community of investment analysts and professionals, academics and think tanks, and the wider public.

The IEP has two main parts with specific and complementary objectives.  The first part highlights key economic developments over recent months, and places these in a longer-term and global context. Based on these developments, and on policy changes over the period, the IEP regularly updates the outlook for Indonesia’s economy. This part of the report contributes to the critical need for regular and sound macroeconomic monitoring. The second part of the report provides an in-depth examination of selected economic and policy issues, and analysis of medium-term development challenges.

The December 2025 edition of the IEP will examine how improving the quality, reliability, and reach of Indonesia’s digital infrastructure could unlock faster productivity growth, create more and better-quality jobs and boost competitiveness. The report will delve into Indonesia’s broadband and data center landscape, identify gaps, and outlines practical steps to make digital connectivity a true enabler of economic transformation. It will also highlight the regulatory setup and reforms to support digital transformation.
